HOW IT ALL STARTED: PROJECT
HISTORY

2005 (Spring)
-completing a shipment of 150 computers, 15 servers, 15 laser printers,
and network services for students in 15 schools across Dominica. This
shipment was made possible through donations from Telus Corp., the
Electronics Recycling Association, Prairie Land School Division,
Lethbridge School District #51 and Palliser Regional Schools.
-preparing the summer inservice program for educators in Dominica
2004
-Mr. and Mrs. Rob and Lynn Cowie lead Mrs. Joan Boras and Mrs. Andrea
Klassen in teaching a series of classes across two weeks introducing
educators to using information technologies and web development
strategies. A special thank you to these volunteers.
2003
- Mr. Abraham Durand comes to Canada from Dominica -- a very warm
welcome by Canadians, a very cold welcome by the Canadian November
climate.
- Dr. Hollingsworth introduces Mr. and Mrs. Cowie to teaching in
Dominica. An intensive series of classes are offered across two weeks
preparing Dominican teachers to integrate information technologies into
their classrooms.
- Delivery of 100 computers, 10 networks and 7 printers to the
Commonwealth of Dominica from Palliser Regional Schools, the Banff
Centre, Praire Rose School Division and Wolf Creek School Division.
- Mr. Tim Symes and Mr. Darren Eveleigh conduct installations of
networks and systems across Dominica and provide on-site technical
training. An introductory course on using multimedia is shared with
Dominican educators.
2001
- Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth and Mr. Brian Hood teach a series of
classes to Dominican educators on integrating information technologies
into classrooms and technical training in using equipment delivered.
2000
- Discussions between Dr. Gordon Campbell, the Dominican Ministry of
Education, Sports and Youth, and Palliser Regional Schools.
- Receipt by Dr. Campbell and Palliser Regional Schools of a proposal
from the Ministry of Telecommunications in Dominica to meet information
technology needs
