PROJECT OBJECTIVES
|
The I.T. for Dominica project addresses several objectives for both the
Dominican people and partners in Canada.
• Recognizing the central role that I.T. serves in business today,
provide
opportunities for students within Dominica to learn to use information
technologies, furthering their opportunities to participate in today’s
economy.
• Develop partnerships between schools, educators, and students between
Dominica and Canada.
• Provide opportunity for the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and values
between students and classrooms within Canada and students and
classrooms within the Commonwealth of Dominica using Information
Technologies.
• Assist in meeting Information Technology needs within the Common-
wealth of Dominica through the provision of technologies, expertise,
training and education.
• Provide a humanitarian good-will service for the betterment of the
people of Dominica. While globalization has had a significant negative
impact on the economy of Dominica, globalization may in turn provide
assistance and goodwill through this project with a long-term goal of
improving education and economic status within the country.
• Provide support in the development of I.T. expertise in the Common-
wealth of Dominica to the level of self-sufficiency.
• Offer opportunity for exchanges of personnel and, over the longer
term, for students between our two countries.
