A BRIEF BACKGROUND ON DOMINICA

Dominica is located in the
Windward chain of islands in the
West
Indies. Unlike the Dominican Republic to the north, Dominica is a small
country
of seventy thousand people. Unfortunately,
the
past several years have left this
country in economic plight. Forty percent of the economic base is
reliant upon
agriculture and the primary agricultural product has been bananas.
Agricultural exports
have fallen dramatically as foreign
investment has occurred elsewhere.
