MEET ABRAHAM DURAND
|
Abraham Durand, an I.T. leader from
Dominica, had the opportunity, through
the I.T. for Dominica Project, to travel
to Canada in the fall 2003. During this
exchange he was able to share
knowledge of his country with Canadian
students and learn of Canadian
approaches to information technology
integration. Although the itinerary was
extremely demanding with presentations
at K-12 schools, to educational Boards
of Trustees, at the University of
Lethbridge and for neighboring school
divisions; Mr. Durand indicates this was a rich opportunity to share
and learn about each others' technology in education approaches and
cultural values.
“This
partnership provides an opportunity for students here an
opportunity to communicate directly with students in Dominica. Students
get a chance to learn about a culture and learn about another country.
They would get more from this type of learning than from a textbook. ”
(Abraham Durand, 2003)
